For years The Pedlar has been my favourite Cafe EVER. I am a vegan and I also can't eat wheat or gluten and the Pedlar have brilliant labelling on all thier menus/boards and loads of options for me including gluten free bread - I love nothing more than to sit in the welcoming cafe after a hard day's walking with my soup and a sandwhich!

I have also been a raw vegan at times and even then the Pedlar had the most lovely salad on the menu. I love eating there because I don't feel weird!

Even more special than usual though...
Last week my family and I spent a week in Keswick to celebrate my Dad's 60th. His favourite carrot cake in the world (and he's tried a few!) is the Pedlar's so I had rung ahead a week before to ask if there was any way they could arrange for a whole carrot cake to be put aside as a birthday cake for my Dad. They also phoned me back to say would I like a table booked so that we didn't have to wait and then on the day they were wonderful, they bought out the cake, complete with candles and singing happy birthday and made my Dad's day. Later in the week we were recognised and given a friendly greeting every time.

In my opinion, the staff at the Pedlar couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and the food couldn't be better. I love the Pedlar!

We have been going to the Pedlar for many years, it is a family favourite. None of us are vegetarian but we love the Three-Bean Burrittos, falfals and Nacho's so much. There are always a huge variety of fresh salads, daily specials, homemade cakes and puddings and the Tiffin is to die for. We have to cycle there nowadays as the only way to justify the calories. We have always found the staff very friendly and helpful and willing to accommodate our VERY fussy children with variations on the menu, a godsend nowadays. They have very good childrens options and do great fresh smoothies. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. There are outside tables on sunny days but beware it gets very busy at lunchtimes but it's worth waiting for a table, we love it, can you tell!!

Went here twice in one week. First time was to pick up some rolls and cake for a packed lunch. They were so tasty that we went back another day and had a meal. Really tasty and imaginative vegetarian food (highly recommend the date slices and the tiffin). My boyfriend is not vegetarian but he still really enjoyed the food. Friendly, helpful service in a relaxed atmosphere. A great find. Hope to return soon.

My husband & I have visited many times for Coffee & Tiffin (its the best ever), so last weekend we tried it for dinner. We were not disappointed, so much topping on his pizza and my burritos mmmm we had a great night.

Had a fantastic lunch of mediterranean plate and a veggie korma. Both were absolutely delicious and the overall price was very competitive (£13 including drinks and tasty crumble pudding). We'll definitely visit again the next time we are in the area.

Had a nice lunch here - veggie nachos were lovely and it was great to have a choice of vegetarian alcohol. We had a bottle of beer each and sitting outside during a rare (this summer!) sunny day looking towards the fells was great!

Great location in the centre of town. Had full vegan breakfast here twice, instead of the egg you get vegan sausage or bacon instead.

Definitely a delicious veggie treat and *always* worth the occasional 10-15 minute wait at peak times. They sell their t-shirts too.

Fill up after that bike ride, hike or just a wander round the shops
Excellent wholefood vegetarian cafe in the centre of Keswick. Chunky pine tables and walls covered with old cycling photos and memorabilia.

Delicious homemade soup Open for filling breakfasts and lunches. The home made soup with a hefty chunk of bread takes the edge off even my appetite! If you're really hungry there are always specials on the board - nut roast, curry, lasagne, etc. all presented with a crunchy salad on the side.

The usual difficult choice ensues for dessert - the fruit crumble or sticky toffee pudding normally wins out for me.

After dinner, have a wander in the bike shop upstairs and try not to spend too much money on something cool and shiny that you didn't even know you needed!

A word of warning. Despite the great demand this place usually closes at about 5pm, although it is often open later during school holidays. Make sure you get over there in good time.

Friendly staff with perfect vegan knowledge, wonderful food, relaxing atmosphere and good portions at a reasonable price. My partner and I had a bowl of mixed olives with organic bread... mmmmmmmm... vegan chilli with pita and salad, apple & blackberry crumble with vegan ice cream for dessert, plus a glass of vegan wine and an organic ginger beer. One word to sum it all up... EXCELLENT!!! Well worth going out of your way for.

On the day we visited (high Summer) the place was busy and the staff flustered at times (although not unpleasant). The food arrived after a brief (understandable) delay and was well worth the wait! Generous portions, full of flavour. The menu contains a large variety of choices for children, making this a good choice with our 3 year old son in tow. The quiche is good, as are the nachos... the carrot cake is compulsory. Heartly recommended.
