About the Café
Established in 1996 by Maggie Doron, the Lakeland Pedlar Café and Bicycle Centre is in the enviable position of being situated in the heart of Keswick, gateway to the Northen Lake District and haven to all people who enjoy the area's outstanding natural beauty.
As soon as you step through the door, you feel like you are in a place you can relax. It has an instant welcoming atmosphere, magnified as soon as you set eyes on the vast array of delicious cakes on display in the front counter.
The café soon became popular amongst outdoor enthusiasts for its fast, friendly service and good portions. There is plenty of room both inside and out, and during the summer, it is quite common to see 30-odd bikes parked up outside (as their owners refuel inside).
A couple of years ago, "The Rough Guide" voted us "Keswick's Best Café" - an accolade of which we are very proud.
Pedlars Cuisine
Unlike any other café or restaurant in Keswick, our entire kitchen is meat-free and our food is totally natural, vegetarian and HOMEMADE. We pride ourselves on producing food from a wide range of international influences, which is not only good for you, but ultimately also for animals and the environment.
Most of our foods are prepared with unrefined ingredients, and when combined with the finest, freshest fruits and vegetables, we are able to create delicious nutritionally balanced meals.
A few years ago, we were awarded the Vegetarian Society's "V" symbol. This gives complete reassurance and acts as a guarantee that all ingredients used by us adhere to their strict guidelines, that the eggs are free-range and that the ingredients are GMO free.
